Blog envy

When I surf around in Blogland I often get blog envy. All the blogs out there are much better than mine, has more visitors than mine and the posts have way more comments. Yesterday I sort of “woke up” and did a reality check! Do I want 50 comments to every post? YES my envious mind screamed at first but then I thought about it a bit more and the answer was NO I don’t. Because if you read some of the 50 or more comments the “famous” bloggers get on their posts they seem to be of the cut and paste variety written by someone that only want a return visit to his or her own blog. I on the other hand feel that I have blog friends who take an interest in my life and write very personal and lovely comments. And that is worth so much more!

After coming to that conclusion a weight sort of lifted from my shoulders and I felt free! Why? I wondered. The answer is that I am very good at pushing myself and to question my own abilities and I very seldom allow myself to feel content. So I did with my blog as I do with so much more – I made it into something I had to succeed in and then the fun almost went out of it. I love writing and I love taking photographs and through my blog I have an opportunity to do just that! It was why I started in the first place but along the way I sort of lost my bearings and it became something else. A competion. Trough my blog I have met some truly wonderful persons that mean a lot to me. The live near and far – some much nearer than you think. ( Anna happened to live on the other side of my block….) but they all feel just as close.

So now I am back on track! I write for the fun of it!

And I raise my glass to my dear Blog friends in Sweden, Australia, UK, the Netherlands and the States and thank you from the bottom of my heart for the lovely comments and mail you keep sending me! And the award that Lili gave me.....

.........I give to you all!
Take care
Jeanette

Thanks for returning the award :-)
Did you receive my mail? If not, I wanted to tell you that I'm happy beyond words with your parcel! Thanks a million!
As for comments in blogging; It's always seen and be seen too, as in real life! I'm like you: I appreciate a true friend and commenter a 1000 times more than those visitors that only have as goal that you come over to their blog and count to their comments volume.
And I like bloggers who have a voice of their own, just like yourself. Like your post on pimping a Volvo, I thought that was brilliant and I have told other people that story and they were laughing too! Much better than I picture of a vase with a peony and one sentence; it's spring over here (or that madonna painted white with the catholic prayer chain, that I have seen in sooooo many blogs). And I can go on with what I don't like, but that's not interesting...I love your blog, really I do!
Keep going on like this, hugs, LiLi

Kramar!!

What a great post Jeanette! One of the things that I really enjoy about your blog is your honesty.AND your very, very good pictures. I am always telling people about your blog and what a laugh you give me. There are so many things that you write about that sound like something that I think. The only difference is that you are more likely to voice them.Good on you!
I really loved the crayfish party...if only I had been there to enjoy it with you. There should be celebrations like that here in Australia....I WISH! Family events like these are so much fun. I love watching how everyone interacts with each other and how easy-going it feels.
Great hats and hat photos.....you crazy thing!

Glad to hear all is going well with the girls and your new job.
Happy days to you dear Jeanette, Angela.

This is so true, so true and I think most of us bloggers have been there. Everyone else is so clever, right?
For me a turningpoint was when I was considering installing a counter to see how many visitors I actually have. I decided against it and thought a little on why I wanted to know that. And realised I mostly wanted others to see how many visitors I have...

Well said my friend - I couldn't have put it better myself - in fact I couldn't have begun to put all that into words, and I agree with every one. I miss seeing some of your gorgeous felting though, I must admit. Hey! I made a piece of wet felting last week - first time too!

I think is my first time commenting here - I linked over from style-Queen Anna.
I know what you mean about blog envy - I keep going through those cycles. But then, I too, remember the real comments from people who's blogs I enjoy reading, and knowing about their lives. And my family reading, and sometimes commenting.
But mainly, I remind myself that this blogging is for me - my words, thoughts, photos, crafting. And getting to share and find new friends is a wonderful extension of that. And I too have found blogfriends in my city too!

I love your felting - my sister is just getting into that, and wanting to explore more. So I'll send your blog onto her...

Take care.
